AI Startup Event on Industry and Health Promotes Innovation and Technology Commercialization

According to the Public Relations Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Technology at Semnan University of Medical Sciences, the AI Startup Event on Industry and Health was held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, with the aim of strengthening university–industry collaboration and promoting intelligent solutions in the fields of healthcare and industry. The event was organized by the University's Health Technology Development Office in collaboration with the Semnan Industrial Parks Company.

The event brought together Dr. Ali Rashidipour, President of Semnan University of Medical Sciences; Dr. Majid Eslami, Vice Chancellor for Research and Technology; senior university administrators; researchers; technology developers; industry representatives; and innovation stakeholders. The gathering provided a platform for exchanging ideas, showcasing technological capabilities, and exploring new opportunities for collaboration between academia and industry.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Rashidipour emphasized the need to transform university research from primarily theoretical studies into practical, application-oriented innovation. Highlighting the growing potential of artificial intelligence in advancing healthcare and industrial development, he noted that effective utilization of emerging technologies requires interdisciplinary, well-coordinated, and goal-oriented research teams.

Referring to the increasing complexity of healthcare challenges, he stressed that sustainable solutions depend on systematic collaboration among experts from different disciplines. He further underscored the vital role of startups in transforming scientific ideas into marketable products and services and called for stronger support mechanisms to accelerate technology transfer from universities to society.

Dr. Rashidipour also described teamwork as a cornerstone of technological advancement and expressed hope that closer collaboration among universities, industry, and the innovation ecosystem would foster sustainable solutions for improving public health and addressing national priorities.

Dr. Majid Eslami, Vice Chancellor for Research and Technology, introduced the University's Health Technology Incubator and the Semnan Health Science and Technology Park, describing them as key executive arms of the University in commercializing scientific and technological achievements.

He explained that these centers contribute significantly to the health innovation ecosystem by providing comprehensive support services, including intellectual property and patent assistance, access to financial resources and funding opportunities, business consulting, and laboratory, research, and administrative infrastructure. These resources, he noted, create a favorable environment for transforming innovative ideas into practical technologies and services.

Dr. Eslami also encouraged innovators, technology developers, faculty members, and student researchers to take advantage of these capacities to accelerate the transformation of knowledge into technology and economic value, while narrowing the gap between research laboratories and the marketplace.

During another session of the event, a representative of the Semnan Industrial Parks Company highlighted the importance of research networking as an effective strategy for bridging the gap between academia and industry. The speaker emphasized the need to establish collaborative platforms capable of converting academic ideas into industrial products and discussed practical applications of artificial intelligence in optimizing production processes, improving productivity, and enhancing industrial management.

One of the event's major highlights was the presentation and evaluation of innovative artificial intelligence projects. Participating teams presented their ideas before a panel of expert judges, where proposals were assessed based on innovation, feasibility, added value, and commercialization potential. Outstanding projects were recognized and honored during the closing ceremony.

Alongside the startup event, a specialized technology exhibition was held featuring companies active in medical devices, pharmaceuticals, the regional electricity sector, and university-affiliated technology and knowledge-based enterprises. The exhibition showcased the latest technological products, innovations, and services while introducing new opportunities for collaboration among academia, industry, and the private sector.
