The Neuroscience Research Institute is committed to advancing fundamental and applied research in the fields of neuroscience and cognitive science. Through the continuous efforts of its researchers and in line with its vision of expanding scientific knowledge while integrating it with emerging convergent technologies, the Institute seeks to improve human quality of life and contribute to addressing major health and societal challenges.
The Institute places particular emphasis on the application of advanced technologies that support the development of neuroscience and cognitive science. These include nanotechnology, biotechnology, bioinformatics, big data analytics, artificial intelligence, microelectronics, nuclear technologies, advanced molecular techniques, and other related fields. As convergent technologies, these innovations provide powerful tools for expanding scientific knowledge, developing novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches, and accelerating translational research.
The Neuroscience Research Institute aspires to become a leading center of excellence at the national, regional, and international levels in both scientific discovery and the development of innovative, impactful technologies and products. By fostering close collaboration between basic research and clinical practice, the Institute aims to bridge the gap between laboratory research and healthcare, ultimately contributing to the promotion of human health and well-being.
To achieve these goals, the Institute develops and implements its strategic programs with the objective of defining high-quality, practical, and achievable research priorities in neuroscience and cognitive science at Semnan University of Medical Sciences, while integrating these priorities with emerging convergent technologies to address the needs of society.
The Neuroscience Research Institute was officially established on 8 July 2025 (17 Tir 1404), following the approval granted by the 295th Meeting of the Council for the Expansion of Medical Universities of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education. The Institute encompasses the Physiology Research Center, the Neurorehabilitation Research Center, and the Neuromuscular and Stem Cell Research Center, all affiliated with Semnan University of Medical Sciences.
